The HMBCA is happy to announce that Winter Blast is back!
On Saturday, January 25th from 10am-12pm, join us at Half Moon Bay Park for some winter fun!
Various events such as Tug-of-War, Bean Bag Toss, and Tobogganing (among others) will take place at Half Moon Bay Park and coffee, hot chocolate and snacks will be available to keep us warm and energized. The New Hot 89.9's Street Team will be here with music and prizes too! Weather permitting, skating will also take place at the River Run Park and Freshwater Parkette rinks.
This is a great chance to get out to see your neighbours and have some fun!
The HMBCA is looking for some volunteers to help out at the event. If you're available, even for a short time, please let us know.
Saturday, January 28th is the day of our first Winter Blast. We will be at the River Run Park from 10am to 2pm celebrating the opening of the ice rink.
We are also using this as an opportunity to welcome the firefighters of Fire House 47 who will be arriving to the event in style on one of their fire trucks. So make sure to bring the kids (and anyone who’s a kid at heart) because seeing one of these up close isn’t an everyday event!
We will be collecting donations for the Snowsuit Fund. Donations can be in the form of “cash, and knitted articles as well as gently used winter outerwear, hats, mitts and boots of all sizes.” To learn more about the Snowsuit Fund you can visit http://www.snowsuitfund.com/index.html
We will be providing free Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate during the event to help keep you warm, but remember to pack some snacks for the kids as food won’t be available.
The day will be full of activities for the whole family, and there will be prizes! Activities include open skating (on the rink), skills contests (on the rink), tug-of-war challenges and races, to name a few. We have more planned but will release the final details in an email to all registered members by Wednesday, January 25th.
This event is open to both members and non-members alike. A “Member Services” table will be on site accepting new member registrations. Members who have not yet received their membership cards will be able to pick them up, as well.
