Mattamy Homes, in partnership with the City of Ottawa, is developing a new park in the Half Moon Bay South community. Given that the park is small -- about 0.4 hectares, as well as the corresponding budget, amenities such as a splash pad and puddle rink (which requires a heated storage unit and lighting) cannot be included in the park design. This is common practice for parkette development throughout the city.
The City understands that these amenities are highly sought after by residents and will be taken into consideration in future parks planned for Half Moon Bay South.
The park features a set of four-seat swings will be provided as well as a slide, climbing structures, and other gross-motor skill building equipment for children typically between the ages of two to five years old.
Other park amenities include:
- Asphalt pathways
- Benches near the play equipment as well as those removed from the active zone for more peaceful relaxation
- Deciduous trees for shady relief, and
