Post regarding parks and recreation programs available in the Half Moon Bay community area.
River Run Park rink is now closed for the season due to the warmer weather. Half Moon Bay Park and Freshwater Parkette rinks closed for the season at the end of February.
We sincerely thank our rink operators Jeff, Mike, and Jason for their many hours of shovelling and braving extremely cold weather to keep these rinks going this season.
We are happy to announce that the new Half Moon Bay Public Elementary School has been approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education!
The announcement was made today by Ontario Education Minister Liz Sandals at a press conference at Broadview Public School.
Last Fall representatives from HMBCA joined our area's OCDSB Trustee Donna Blackburn to fight to have a new Half Moon Bay school placed as the number one capital priority for the 2014-2015 list. We were successful, and we sincerely thank Donna for her hard work!
The school will be located in the Northwestern part of Half Moon Bay, near the intersection of River Run & Grand Canal.
We will post further updates as more information becomes available.
The end of February means the end of skating season at a couple of our local rinks. Half Moon Bay Park and Freshwater Parkette rinks are now closed for the season.

The larger boarded rink at River Run Park will continue to operate for a few more weeks, weather permitting.
We're happy to announce that the puddle rink at Half Moon Bay Park is now open! The rink is located on the East side of the playground.
We will do our best to keep the conditions of HMB, River Run, and Freshwater rinks updated on our Parks page as conditions change.
After snowfalls, we're always looking for volunteers to help shovel the rinks, so feel free to bring a shovel and help out our rink operators Jason, Jeff, and Mike who have done a fantastic job this year!

We are happy to announce that the boarded rink at River Run Park, and the puddle rink at Freshwater Parkette are now open! The HMBCA has contractors who are responsible for rink maintenance, but volunteers are always needed to help clear snow!
A second puddle rink at Half Moon Bay Park is currently being worked on, but is not ready for skating yet.
This year the HMBCA will be updating the rink conditions at hmbca.ca/parks. The conditions will be rated as "Good," "Fair," or "Closed." We will do our best to update them often, but please let us know if the conditions change.
