Important Changes to the HMBCA Board of Directors

Over the past few weeks there have been quite a few changes to the HMBCA Board of Directors.

Farewells

First, Sean Cusson has decided to step down as President. Sean started volunteering for the Board just under four years ago, and he has no doubt been a large part of the success of the HMBCA today. We sincerely thank him for his efforts and dedication to the HMBCA, and to the community as a whole.

Sue McDonald has stepped down as Director of Parks and Environment, and interim Treasurer. Sue was a Board member for just under two years, and we sincerely thank her for her time spent with the HMBCA Board of Directors.

Welcomes

The HMBCA Board of Directors is happy to welcome new Directors Carrie Lynn Poole-Cotnam, Danny Shoeman, and Tara Shea. Carrie Lynn brings her experience as a Treasurer to the Board as Director of Finance. Danny has made an immediate impact as the new Director of Safety and Security, and Tara brings her experience in municipal government and not-for-profits to the Director of Parks & Environment position. Welcome Carrie Lynn, Danny, and Tara!

Changes to the Board

By unanimous vote, the Board of Directors has decided to eliminate the Executive Committee. This change eliminates the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. This decision means that all Directors are involved in all aspects of administration and operation of the HMBCA. This change also allows workload to be spread out more efficiently between the Directors.

With these changes, the following Directors titles have changed:

  • Vice President Kelly McAuley is now a Director at Large
  • Secretary Kristal Felea is now Director of Administration
  • Treasurer Carrie Lynn Poole-Cotnam is now Director of Finance

If you have any questions or comments about these changes, or the HMBCA, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Role Changes in the Board of Directors

After two years serving in the role of Vice-President, Angelo Dicerni has decided to resign. We wish him luck in his future endeavours.

We are happy to announce that Kelly McAuley has accepted the role of Vice President. Over the last year, Kelly has excelled in her role as Director of Events and we are thrilled to have her join the Executive Committee.

Ryan Knuth, who up until recently was the Director of Safety and Security, has accepted the role of Director of Public Relations. If you are a member of our Facebook group, you are no doubt familiar with his name.

With Kelly and Ryan transitioning into their new roles, there are now 3 vacant openings: Director of Events, Director of Safety and Security, and Director at Large.

If you would like to join the Board of Directors, or for more information, please email Kelly at vicepresident@hmbca.ca.

Volunteers Wanted

The Half Moon Bay Community Association needs you.

The Half Moon Bay Community Association is being rebuilt and renewed.  We have new members on our Board of Directors and we're working hard to make this happen.  For a list of who is now involved please visit our Departments page.

We are asking for members to help out our directors by volunteering to be on an Ad Hoc Committee.  This will be to help with events, parks and environment and promotions.

When help is needed a Bulletin will be sent out to the Ad Hoc Committee. You’ll receive it in your email inbox. It will tell you what is needed and ask for your help. If you can help you will be asked to contact the person that is heading up the project as soon as possible.

If you have free time to donate to your community from time to time we urge you to contact us.  Our first event is being planned at this moment.
